On-Page SEO Checklist: Optimize your content using tested on-page SEO techniques.
1. Include your keyword in your URL
Your URL helps Google understand what your page is or about. Plus, a keyword-rich URL can increase your organic CTR.
Keyword-rich URLs correlate with higher organic CTR
That's why you should include your keyword in your URL.
For example, my target keyword for this page is "On-page SEO Checklist".
So I created the URL: Digitalsoweb.co.in/seo-checklist
easy.
2. Use Shorter URLs
Keep your URLs as short as possible.
Because
An analysis of 12 million Google search results found that short URLs rank best in Google.
Short URLs outperform longer URLs.
3. Put your keyword in the first place in your title tag
It's no secret that you should use your own keywords in your title tag.
But many people don't know that where you should put your keywords matters.
In particular, you should place your keywords in front of your title tag whenever possible.
As, my main keyword in this post is "on-page SEO checklist":
Digitalseoweb.co.in - On-page SEO checklist
Here you can see, that my title tag starts with that keyword:
On-Page SEO Checklist - Keywords in the Title
4. Embed Title Tag Modifier
Title tag modifiers are words and phrases to add to your title.
When you do, your page can rank for many different long-tail keywords.
5. Use your keyword in the first 150 words of a Paragraph
Google pays more attention to the first 100-150 words of your page.
So do use your keyword once here.
For example, for one of your SEO tools post, you might use the word "SEO Tools" in the first 100 to 150 words of a paragraph.
In this paragraph, The keywords "SEO Tools" are at the beginning.
6. Use your keywords in H1, H2, or H3 Tags
Your keywords should be included in H1, H2, or H3 tags.
For example:
I've included the term "SEO Checklist" in the first subheading on this page:
SEO Checklist – Keywords in H2 Tags
That subtitle is enclosed in an H2 tag. And including “SEO Checklist” in an H2 can help me to get a higher rank for that SEO checklist keyword.
This tip won't make a big dent in your Google rankings, but it can certainly be beneficial.
When it comes to search engine optimization, every little bit helps.
7. Optimize Images
The images you use tell a lot about your content.
Google still can't "see" images as humans.
So to help Google understand your images, you should optimize your image alt tags and file names.
This way:
First, when you upload the image, use a file name that briefly describes what that image is.
For example, let's say you took a picture of your rose flower.
Well, you might want to name that image something like this:
rose_flowers.png
Then, when you add an image to your page, give it a descriptive optional tag:
descriptive alt tag on the image
that's all there is to it.
8. Use Synonyms and LSI Keywords
In olden times, it made sense to "keyword stuff" your page. But not anymore, today Google has become smart.
So instead of using the same keyword 100 times, synonyms and LSI keywords should be used.
For example, let's say you want to rank for "how to start blogging."
Well, you might want to mention that exact keyword multiple times on your page… and use synonyms like:
how to start blogging
start blogging
how to start blogging
how to set up blogging on WordPress
you get the idea
Next, add some LSI keywords.
LSI keywords are words that go with your main keyword.
You can find a group of these using LSIGraph.com.
Then, add some of these LSI keywords to your page and you're set.
9. Use External Links
Your article should link to 7-8 authority sites.
For example, in this list of SEO techniques, I link to trusted websites such as Wikipedia & Google.
SEO Techniques Post – External Links
And those links show Google that my content is well & trustworthy.
10. Use Internal Links
It's very simple:
Whenever you publish new content, be sure to link to 2-4 other pages of your site.
Bonus Tips: Use keyword-rich anchor text in your internal links.
For example, notice how I use the anchor text "On-Page SEO Checklist" in this internal link:

This tells search engines that the page I'm linking to is about: the "On-Page SEO Checklist".
